HOW DO I GET STARTED?

You can start by calling now or scheduling a time for Bria to call you. On our call we will discuss your availability, needs, and goals. From there we can schedule your introductory private mindful movement discovery session.

WHAT SUPPLIES DO I NEED?

You’ll need a mat, two blocks, a blanket, and a strap. It’s okay if you don’t have everything on hand for the intro session. Here are shopping links to get you started:

A good starter mat (suitable for both yoga and Pilates)

Yoga blocks and strap

If you prefer a thicker mat (suitable for both yoga and Pilates), try this one

A “magic circle” aka Pilates “ring” can be useful for both yoga and Pilates

I’M JUST LOOKING FOR A TEACHER TO DO A ONE-TIME SESSION WITH. DO YOU DO THOSE?

While I mainly work with clients who are interested in working with a private instructor on an ongoing,  generally 1-3 times weekly basis, reach out to me to discuss other setups.

I LIVE OUTSIDE OF THE AREA YOU LISTED. WILL YOU TRAVEL TO ME? AND DO YOU OFFER VIRTUAL SESSIONS?

Possibly. I mostly offer my services in the Boulder, Colorado area. If you are outside of this zone, I might be able to accommodate you with an adjustment to my rates. Yes, I do offer virtual sessions.

WHAT ARE YOUR RATES?

Private yoga and Pilates rates are comparable to private psychotherapy rates. (In my case, that rate range is generally $99-250 per session, depending on a few factors, including location and session length). I’ll give you a customized quote on our phone consultation. Speaking of psychotherapy, I’ve had several clients tell me they think their yoga sessions are an excellent complement to therapy for stress relief.

DO YOU OFFER PRIVATE GROUP CLASSES FOR CORPORATE SETTINGS AND/OR SPECIAL EVENTS?

Yes, please contact me to discuss further. I can create a fun, effective, uniquely customized experience for you and your group.

I’VE NEVER DONE YOGA BEFORE. IS THAT AN ISSUE?

Not at all! I’ve welcomed and worked with many beginners, and “beginner’s mind” is a powerful, exciting thing! (In the mind of an expert there are a few possibilities. In the mind of a beginner, there are many. — Zen proverb.)

I HAVE AN INJURY/ILLNESS/DISABILITY. CAN YOU WORK WITH ME?

I am experienced in teaching mindful movement to people with a range of health conditions. We’ll discuss your specific situation and needs on our phone call. We can also chat about bringing in some powerful stress relief elements into your sessions, such as guided meditation, Yoga Nidra, and Reiki healing.

WHERE DO SESSIONS TAKE PLACE?

We can work together in your home, office, building’s gym, or in a rented studio space. I also sometimes offer sessions in a loft space in North Boulder. Whatever works best!

ARE YOU VACCINATED AGAINST THE COVID-19 VIRUS?

Yes, I am fully vaccinated. It’s smart of you to ask, as not all wellness practitioners are. My two pennies: Make sure to always ask this important question if vaccination status is a priority to you.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN YOGA AND PILATES?

Yoga: Yoga movements and breath awareness help you in building flexibility, stability, strength, balance, and focus. In short, it aims to not only improve your physical health, but your emotional and spiritual health as well. Yoga originated in India with the purpose of connecting the individual consciousness with the universal consciousness through physical activity. Thus, yoga can be a workout and a “work ‘in’,” as it helps you connect with yourself on a deeper level. Through mindful movement, the practice of yoga can be extremely therapeutic. Many types of yoga involve meditation at some point during the exercise. The meditative portion of yoga tends to attract people who are seeking to unwind from stressful situations.

Pilates: The main goal of Pilates is to strengthen the core, improve posture, stabilize and elongate the spine and develop balance and overall strength. The idea behind Pilates is to gain flexibility, strength and body awareness without building bulk. (That’s why it’s a favorite of dancers, models, and actors.) There are six key principles of Pilates: concentration, control, centering, breathing, flow, and precision. When these key principles are used in conjunction with the mindset that you are creating a leaner, better you from your core muscles out, Pilates can provide that long, toned body you desire. And yes, Pilates can help you improve your yoga practice, as well as your other activities.

Yoga and Pilates each have their merits. The best part is that you really don’t have to choose. We can combine Pilates with yoga for an amazing way to transform your routine. Both modalities are excellent complements to other movement modalities, such as hiking, cycling, skiing, and all forms of climbing.

DO YOU WORK WITH ATHLETES?

Definitely. As a bit of a “Sporty Spice” for much of my life (I’ve played volleyball, soccer, run track, danced, and gotten into archery, hiking, and strength training to name a few), I have an insider’s understanding of the mindset and dedication it takes to engage in sports of all kinds. I also deeply understand the importance of cross-training and stress-relief practices. Yoga and Pilates offer both! And these modalities are excellent complements to other movement forms, such as hiking, cycling, skiing, and all types of climbing.

CAN WHAT YOU OFFER HELP IMPROVE MY ATHLETIC PERFORMANCE?

Yes. Stretching, stress relief, core training moves, balance practices, and mindfulness can all help improve athletic performance.

WHAT IS THAT REIKI STUFF YOU ALSO OFFER?

Reiki is a healing technique based on the principle that the practitioner can channel energy into the client by means of touch, to activate the natural healing processes of the recipient’s body and restore physical and emotional well-being. Reiki is great for stress relief, can help heal physical injuries, and it facilitates one’s emotional connection to oneself.

WHAT ABOUT GUIDED MEDITATION/STRESS RELIEF/YOGA NIDRA?

These practices are powerful in helping to slough off layers of stress. We can do entire sessions of these practices, or weave in elements of them into your sessions that are more focused around yoga and/or Pilates.

Fun Fact: Just 30 minutes of Yoga Nidra guided meditation is said to equal about 2.5 hours of deep sleep. The type of Yoga Nidra I focus on is Divine Sleep Yoga Nidra.

CAN I COMBINE MORE THAN ONE MODALITY INTO A SESSION?

Yes … Absolutely. Multi-modality sessions are some of my favorite to guide, as they are so multidimensional and offer a range of benefits to clients in a very short period of time. No two sessions with me are ever the same, and we can combine modalities in ways that serve your long and short-term goals and interests.

ARE YOU PET-FRIENDLY?

Yes … I love animals. I myself have a cat who loves to supervise (and sometimes assist) my personal yoga and meditation sessions at home.
